A delegation of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is convening with the Supreme Council of the New Generation Movement to discuss drafting the points of their recent agreement.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at 3 PM Thursday in Sulaymaniyah, at which senior officials of both parties will attend.

Salar Lala Sarhad, a member of the PUK delegation, told Channel8 that the talks focus on the draft agreement between the two sides on their participation model in the future government.

Both parties reached understandings in two previous talks regarding political coordination and the formation of a new cabinet of government.

Shaswar Abdulwahid Unveils Plan to Secure Senior Governmental Posts

Shaswar Abdulwahid announced a strategic plan consisting of two parts: the first to secure the Prime Minister's office and several ministries, and the second to pursue the presidency of the Kurdistan Region along with additional ministerial roles.

Additionally, it was emphasized that out of eight senior and sensitive posts, four should be allocated to parties based in Sulaymaniyah.

Talabani and Abdulwahid pledging to continue cooperation

The leaders of parties, Bafel Jalal Talabani and Shaswar Abdulwahid, met on Tuesday, with both sides announcing further meetings to cooperate on the joint project for governance and the agreement between them.

Calls for Opposition Unity to Achieve Governance Balance

Abdulwahid told reporters following the meeting that the talks were “very successful," adding their project focuses on transparency, revitalizing institutions, and improving people's lives.

He urged other opposition parties to join the agreement if they seek "balance" in governance within the Kurdistan Region, highlighting that the inclusion of additional forces would enable the formation of a majority necessary to select the Prime Minister.

Abdulwahid criticized opposition forces for their reluctance to join the coalition and pointed out the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) for holding most of the top government positions.
