Banaz Ramazan, Director of Western Education in Sulaymaniyah, stated that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kurdistan Region was unable to fully utilize the online education system. However, following the pandemic, the Ewane (E-lesson) platform was established by the Ministry of Education, providing a comprehensive digital environment where lessons are presented and all student questions are addressed.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced yesterday the suspension of all school examinations and assessments, transitioning the education process to a fully digital format.

According to the KRG Media and Information Department, both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research have been directed to implement necessary measures to facilitate this transition online.

Kurdistan Suspends In-Person Schooling Amid Security Concerns

This decision was made in response to the deteriorating security situation in the region, which has been affected by ongoing conflicts involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

The Kurdistan Region has faced threats of hundreds of drone and missile attacks, prompting the suspension of in-person schooling to ensure the safety of students and staff.

 Activation of Online Education System

Ramazan told Channel8 that the online education system would be activated starting today, with each student provided a unique code to access the platform.

Online Learning Methods and Ewane Platform

She highlighted that online learning can be conducted through various methods, including lessons broadcast via education television channels.

Additionally, she explained that platforms like Ewane allow directors, assistants, and teachers to access the system, monitor student attendance, and manage educational activities remotely.
