Kurdistan Ministry of Education Unveils New Student Uniform for the 2026–2027 School Year
The Minister of Education announced the new school uniform for the 2026–2027 academic year at an official ceremony, covering all stages from kindergarten through 12th grade, with designs differentiated by color and style and developed by a specialized committee.
Uniform Specifications and Differences by Stage
Kurdistan Regional Government Minister of Education Alan Hama Saeed stated at a press conference that the new uniforms will apply uniformly across all schools, public and private alike, consisting of a shirt and pants.
The shirt must contain no less than 70% linen, while the linen content of the pants should ideally be no less than 50%. He also clarified that female students at the preparatory stage have the option of wearing pants instead of a skirt.
Merchants Will Produce the Uniforms, Not Companies
The minister confirmed that the uniforms will not be assigned to a single company. Instead, merchants will be required to produce them in accordance with the Ministry of Education's standards.
The uniforms will be available across all stores throughout Kurdistan and will be identical region-wide. The uniform carries the Ministry of Education's official logo, and neither merchants nor schools are permitted to monopolize its production or sale.
Procedures for Merchants
Ragaz Rashid, director of the Ministry of Education's office, explained that merchants wishing to produce the uniforms may visit the Directorate General of Education in their city or the Directorate of Education in their town to obtain the official sample catalog.
