Kurdistan Security Agency Announces Arrest of International Drug Trafficking Network

The Kurdistan Region Security Agency has announced the arrest of an international drug trafficking group operating across several provinces in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Operations Across Multiple Provinces

In a statement, the agency said that the arrests were carried out through a joint intelligence operation involving the Iraqi National Intelligence Service (INIS), the Parastin u Zanyari/Zanyari Intelligence Agency, and the General Directorate for Anti-Narcotics Control under the Kurdistan Region Security Agency. The group had been active in multiple provinces.

Seizure of Over One Million Captagon Pills

The statement confirmed that the operation led to the seizure of more than one million Captagon pills and 100 kilograms of hashish and prevented the shipment from being trafficked abroad.

Arrests Under Narcotics Law

According to the statement, all suspects have been detained under Article 28 of Iraqi Law No. 50 of 2017 on narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, and investigations into their cases are ongoing.
