A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in the Iraqi Council of Representatives announced that the KDP has decided to end its boycott and return to Baghdad.

Request from the Coordination Framework and Prime Minister-Designate

Ashwaq Jaf, a KDP parliamentarian in the Iraqi Council of Representatives, told Channel8: “A delegation from the Coordination Framework and the appointed prime minister of Iraq, who visited Erbil in recent days, requested that the KDP faction return to Baghdad.”

Commitment to Partnership and Balance

She added, "Following a request from a delegation of the Coordination Framework and the prime minister-designate of Iraq and their pledge to implement the constitution and respect political balance, the KDP faction decided to return to Baghdad.”

Return Includes KDP Ministers

Jaf also indicated that the decision to return to Baghdad includes KDP ministers in the Iraqi government. On Tuesday, several KDP ministers attended the regular session of the Iraqi Council of Ministers.

Prior to the Iraqi presidential election, the KDP had withdrawn to Erbil in protest, describing the move as a parliamentary and governmental withdrawal for consultation.
