Following remarks by Kurdish politician Ahmet Turk describing Amedspor as “a Kurdistan club,” a senior adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said “there is no and cannot be a Kurdish state,” while a nationalist party leader called on Turk to leave Turkey.

Amedspor Promotion Draws Attention

After Amedspor secured promotion to Turkey’s Super Lig, Ahmet Turk, a veteran Kurdish politician from southeastern Turkey, expressed support for the club.

“I am very happy that a Kurdish club has reached the Turkish Super Lig, and I hope they will be successful,” Turk said.

Erdogan Adviser Responds

Oktay Saral, a senior adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, responded to Turk on X, rejecting references to Kurdistan in Turkey.

“There is no such thing as a Kurdish state in these lands, nor can there be,” Saral said, adding: “The name of this state is the Republic of Turkey.”

Criticism of Ahmet Turk

Saral also accused Ahmet Turk of failing to respect the Turkish people, state and flag, saying the Kurdish politician “should know his limits.”

Nationalist Leader Calls on Turk to Leave

Separately, Mustafa Destici, leader of the nationalist Great Unity Party Party (BBP), criticized Turk’s remarks.
“This is the Republic of Turkey. If Ahmet Turk is not happy here, he should leave,” Destici said.
