Dr. Yad Naqshbandi, Director of Hiwa Hospital, announced on May 18, 2026, that patients will now be able to access their complete medical records and history through a dedicated mobile application.

According to the hospital director, this will allow patients visiting any other healthcare facility to easily share their medical history with specialist doctors via their smartphones. Dr. Naqshbandi noted that implementing this digital project has been a primary goal and a dream of his since he first assumed office as director.

Managing 60 Million Data Points

The Director of Hiwa Hospital revealed that the hospital’s internal database currently manages 60 million data points. He explained that relying on traditional paper-based methods for such a vast volume of data was incredibly difficult, as patients previously had to carry multiple large physical files if they wished to transfer their data elsewhere. Dr. Naqshbandi emphasized that the nature of Hiwa Hospital's patient base is unique, requiring a long-term, lifelong relationship with the hospital rather than just a visit of one or two days.

Providing New Medical Equipment for Women

In another development, the director announced that Hiwa Hospital has become the first public hospital to acquire five new specialized machines for female patients, designed to minimize hair loss during treatment. He added that an additional ten machines of the same model will be provided to the hospital in the near future.

Expanding Services to Erbil and Duhok

Dr. Yad Naqshbandi also stated that, at his request and on behalf of Hiwa Hospital, a formal proposal has been submitted to provide identical equipment to hospitals in the cities of Erbil and Duhok. This initiative aims to ensure that patients residing in those governorates can benefit from the same medical services.
