Iraq Has 1,050 Licensed Tourism Companies
The Iraqi Tourism Board has deployed monitoring teams at checkpoints between Iraqi provinces and the Kurdistan Region to prevent the activities of fake tourism companies. Official companies found violating regulations may face fines of up to 500,000 dinars.
Tourism Monitoring Committees on High Alert
Ali Yassin Abdul-Reza told the Iraqi News Agency that tourism committees in all provinces have been placed on high alert to monitor tourist areas and ensure the delivery of quality services.
He also stated that the Tourism Board has deployed teams at checkpoints on routes leading to the Kurdistan Region, particularly at the Kirkuk and Shaab checkpoints, to inspect tourist groups and verify their documents to ensure they belong to official and licensed companies.
Number of Licensed Tourism Companies
The spokesperson revealed that the number of officially licensed tourism companies operating under the Tourism Board’s regulations has reached 1,050.
Penalties for Violations
Abdul-Reza explained that companies violating regulations may face warnings and financial penalties of up to 500,000 Iraqi dinars.
He added that repeated violations could lead to the revocation of a company’s license, while fake tourism companies will be referred to the courts.
