The process of transferring the MyAccount project to the Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Finance and Economy has begun, with a full transition scheduled to be completed in the coming months.

In a statement by the ministry on Tuesday, Minister Awat Sheikh Janab announced that he met with the MyAccount supervisory team from the Prime Minister's Office to discuss the latest implementation steps. 

The meeting also emphasized the need to accelerate the registration of all public sector salary recipients in the near future. 

Regarding the transition of the project, the statement confirmed that the process has already commenced and will be executed across several distinct phases.

PM’s Office Prepares to Hand Over MyAccount 

A ministry official revealed to Channel8 in late May that the MyAccount project is 85% complete and is scheduled for an official handover from the Prime Minister's Office to the ministry this month, upon reaching a 90% implementation rate. 

The program is directly linked to the Office of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and is supervised and managed by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Aziz Ahmad.

Over 1.1 Million Workers Registered as MyAccount Data Unveiled 

The ministry further noted that during today's meeting, the latest data on the project was presented, revealing that 1,168,000 employees and wage earners have been registered to date. 

Additionally, over 830,000 bank cards have been distributed, and 800,000 individuals received their May salaries through a network of 635 ATMs. Registration has commenced for contract and salaried employees, leaving approximately 50,000 individuals—predominantly pensioners and individuals outside the Kurdistan Region—yet to register.

Out of 474,000 retirees, martyr families, and social care beneficiaries, 418,000 have successfully registered, with 220,000 pensioners already receiving their bank cards. 

Finance Minister Orders Solutions for ATM Issues 

Furthermore, the Minister of Finance directed the project team and relevant parties to maximize efforts with partner banks to resolve past operational difficulties, particularly regarding ATM functionality. 

Special emphasis was placed on addressing card distribution issues for retirees and establishing a specialized registration mechanism for sick or bedridden pensioners unable to visit banks.

MyAccount Establishes Over 900,000 Bank Accounts 

Launched in 2023, the MyAccount initiative has successfully established bank accounts for over 900,000 beneficiaries. Out of more than 1.3 million total employees and wage earners, over 800,000 have received their banking cards to date. 

The digitized system directly notifies public sector employees via text messages regarding registration dates, card pickup schedules, and monthly salary deposit times. 

Seven Banks Deploy 600 ATMs Across Kurdistan Region

Currently, seven distinct banks are participating in the project, having deployed 600 Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) across the Kurdistan Region. 

In compliance with Central Bank of Iraq regulations, the network is projected to exceed 1,000 ATMs by the project's conclusion. Upon receiving salary allocations from the Finance Ministry, these automated networks are systematically loaded with liquidity for employee withdrawals.
