Tom Barrack Arrives in Baghdad Carrying Message from President Trump to Iraqi Government

The U.S. Special Envoy for Iraq and Syria, Tom Barrack, has arrived in Baghdad, announcing what he described as a “new direction” in relations between Washington and Iraq.

Arrival of the U.S. Envoy in Baghdad

Tom Barrack confirmed on his official X account that he has returned to Baghdad. He noted that he met with the U.S. Embassy team in Iraq, led by Chargé d’Affaires Joshua Harris, and expressed his satisfaction at resuming his work in the country.

Delivering President Trump’s Message of Support

The U.S. Special Envoy stated that he is scheduled to meet Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Zaidi today. The main purpose of the meeting is to deliver an official message of support from U.S. President Donald Trump to Zaidi’s government cabinet.

Toward a New Direction in Bilateral Relations

Barrack emphasized that discussions with the Prime Minister will focus on the partnership between the two countries under what he described as a “new direction.” The aim is to build a stronger, mutually beneficial relationship that safeguards both U.S. and Iraqi interests in the region.
