Mazloum Abdi: We Discussed Integrating the SDF with the Syrian Government

The Commander-in-Chief of the SDF, Mazloum Abdi, said he met in Erbil with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and the U.S. Envoy Tom Barrack yesterday to discuss Syria’s political future and the integration of SDF forces with Damascus.

Integration of the SDF with the Syrian Government

In a statement posted on his official X account, Abdi announced that the meeting took place within the context of political shifts in the region and discussions on the future of Rojava (Western Kurdistan) and Syria.

He added that monitoring the implementation of these agreements would strengthen the political process and contribute to consolidating stability in the country.

Counterterrorism Efforts and Political Settlement

According to the SDF Commander-in-Chief, the meetings reaffirmed continued support for counterterrorism efforts.

They also emphasized backing a comprehensive political settlement in Syria that ensures the participation of all components in governance and in shaping the country’s future.

Kurdistan Region’s Role in Regional Stability

In another part of his remarks, Mazloum Abdi highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s role in strengthening regional stability.

He noted that the Kurdistan Region can play an important role in encouraging dialogue among different parties to enhance public security and safeguard stability across the region.
