Shaswar Abdulwahid Reveals Details of Political Alliance Between PUK and New Generation, Warns of Risks Facing Kurdistan Region
After announcing the political agreement between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the New Generation Movement (NGM), Shaswar Abdulwahid, the NGM leader, presented the details of their alliance’s goals and the risks threatening the future of the Kurdistan Region.
Purpose of the Agreement
Shaswar Abdulwahid declared that this political agreement is not against any side, and its main purpose is solely to serve the people. He emphasized that if the interests of the people are put first, then all parties will succeed. He also stressed that now is the time to implement the promises that were made to the citizens.
Risks Facing the Kurdistan Region
The leader of the New Generation Movement warned about the current situation of the region, stating that Kurdistan is in danger and may not survive if urgent action is not taken. He explained that this moment requires independent decision-making and that all parties must adopt a clear stance regarding the current conditions.
Changes in Governance and Distribution of Positions
Regarding the system of governance in the region, Shaswar Abdulwahid said that it is no longer acceptable for one side to hold the position of prime minister and control all key posts. He reiterated that the Kurdistan Region must be governed by the will of the people, not by the will of a single family.
Agreement on Drafting a Constitution
One of the strategic points between both sides is the issue of a fundamental law. Shaswar Abdulwahid revealed that they have agreed with the PUK to draft a constitution for the Kurdistan Region, so that a legal framework for governance can be established.
Expanding the Alliance to Other Parties
In conclusion, Shaswar Abdulwahid expressed readiness to expand the alliance for collective work. He said that they welcome any political party that wishes to join this alliance with the aim of reforming the system of governance.
