After announcing the Balance and Prosperity Agreement with the New Generation Movement, Bafel Jalal Talabani presented his party’s new strategy for the future phase of governance and reform in the political system of the Kurdistan Region.

A New Phase and Serving the People

Bafel Jalal Talabani declared that this agreement is considered “a new day” in the political history of Kurdistan. He emphasized that they have made many promises to the nation and are committed to fulfilling them. Talabani said: “We have a paradise, and we did not know how to serve it,” stressing that responsibility only means serving the people.

Criticism of Governance and Corruption

The PUK leader pointed out that they want a government and a system of governance that is different from what existed before. He explained that ruling through fear, oppression, corruption, and disrespect for the people is unacceptable, and such practices lead to the collapse of government. He called for a new and correct political approach that the people are waiting for.

Past Mistakes and Delay in Government Formation

Talabani criticized past political decisions, stating that after the referendum process, many decisive issues were mishandled and all of them were “mistakes.” He also highlighted the delay in forming the new cabinet, saying: “The formation of the government has been delayed a lot.”

Role of PUK and Protecting Kurdistan’s Entity

Regarding his party’s position, Bafel Jalal Talabani reiterated that the PUK has used all its strength and connections to protect the entity of the Kurdistan Region. He emphasized that the PUK has made many sacrifices for the nation and has taken on great responsibility. He stated: “Today, at the level of Kurdistan and Iraq, we are the first force.”

Opening the Alliance to Other Parties

On expanding the scope of the alliance, Talabani announced that the doors of the Balance and Prosperity Agreement are open to all political sides. He noted that the alliance welcomes the opposition, Islamic parties, and even the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) to become part of this process.
