A delegation from the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) departed for Imrali Island to hold talks with imprisoned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan. The upcoming meeting marks the first direct dialogue between the delegation and Ocalan in nearly two months.

Focus on Peace Process Draft Law

The primary objective of the visit is to review and discuss the draft law concerning the ongoing peace framework. The proposed legislation aims to establish a formal legal architecture to facilitate democratic integration, secure legal guarantees, and advance political negotiations following earlier phases of the process.

Members of the Imrali delegation traveling to the high-security prison facility include:

• Pervin Buldan: Senior DEM Party politician.
• Mithat Sancar: Senior DEM Party official and former co-chair.
• Ozgur Faik Erol: Legal representative and delegation member.

Recent Political Consultations

The trip follows a series of high-level political meetings conducted by the delegation in Ankara. In recent days, DEM Party representatives held consultations with senior government and political leaders, including Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Leader Devlet Bahceli, to discuss the parameters of the draft bill before presenting the framework to Ocalan on the island.
