The DEM Party's Imrali delegation has met with imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, who called for a legal framework to support a peaceful political process and described the current period as an opportunity to strengthen relations between Kurds and Turks.

Delegation Holds Meeting with Ocalan

In a statement, the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) said its Imrali delegation held a comprehensive meeting with Öcalan despite what it described as a prolonged period of isolation. The discussions focused on recent political developments and the future of the ongoing process.

According to the statement, Ocalan said the parties are approaching a stage where a legal foundation can be established for what he described as a historic unity between Kurds and Turks.

He stressed the importance of creating a legal framework that takes into account the concerns and sensitivities of all sides.

Ocalan called on all relevant parties to take responsibility for advancing a fair and lawful process, saying every stakeholder should contribute to ensuring meaningful progress.

Message of Peace and Shared Future

The statement said Ocalan believes the current moment presents a significant opportunity to open a new chapter in relations between Kurds and Turks.

He said peace and coexistence should form the basis of a shared future, urging efforts to build a new phase founded on dialogue and political solutions.
