Several explosions were reported Friday near Erbil International Airport, which hosts US-led coalition forces, after nine drones were detected in the area, according to Channel8’s Erbil correspondent.

Air defense systems were activated as drones hovered over the city, with some intercepted mid-air and exploding, while others were shot down and fell to the ground. Smoke was seen rising from the airport vicinity.

The reporter noted that some drones crashed near civilian homes, raising safety concerns. As a precaution, flights at Erbil International Airport were temporarily halted.
