Iraq’s Interior Ministry Blocks 930 Smuggling Cases, Over 1,000 Arrests in Six Months
The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced that in the past six months, security forces prevented 930 smuggling attempts and arrested more than 1,000 suspects.
Counterfeit Currency
Spokesman Mohammed Ali stated that within the framework of combating “organized crime,” authorities uncovered 69 cases of counterfeit currency, leading to 92 arrests, along with 50 additional cases resulting in 61 arrests.
Illegal Medicines
During the same period, security forces seized 215 cartons of illegal medicines and detained 226 suspects involved.
Commercial Fraud
Investigations also revealed 11 cases of fraudulent commercial activity, with 17 suspects arrested and legal measures taken against them.
Residency Violations
Authorities recorded 69 cases of illegal residency, detaining 181 individuals and initiating legal proceedings.
