Foreign Object Inserted into the Urethra

A 10-year-old child from a town in the Kurdistan Region inserted a needle into their urethra, which subsequently migrated into the bladder.

Transfer to Sulaymaniyah Hospital

Upon realizing what had occurred, the parents immediately took the child to the local town hospital. "After initial attempts to retrieve the needle were unsuccessful, the patient was promptly transferred to a Shar hospital in Sulaymaniyah."

Endoscopic Surgery

Following diagnostic examinations, doctors confirmed that the needle was lodged inside the bladder. A specialist urology team immediately performed an endoscopic extraction under general anesthesia.

The medical team was led by urology specialist Dr. Kardo Hassan, alongside senior resident physicians Dr. Niga Aras and Dr. Rebin Ahmed.

Patient Recovery and Prevented Complications

The child is currently in stable condition and has received all necessary post-procedure care. Without immediate intervention, the needle could have perforated the bladder wall and triggered severe systemic infection, a potentially life-threatening complication.
