Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi announced during a high-level political meeting that the formation of the national government cabinet is entering its final stages.

The Coordination Framework said in a statement that during the regular meeting of the Shia political parties, leaders addressed the latest domestic developments on both the governmental and legislative fronts.
The meeting “reviewed the service and security situation in the country and the wider region.” Al-Zaidi, who also attended the meeting, “announced that the formation of the government cabinet will be finalized soon.”
Iraq’s State Management Coalition earlier reached an initial agreement to distribute four Deputy Prime Minister posts among Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish factions.
Political parties have settled on candidates for the remaining key portfolios, such as Finance, Oil, and Defense. Al-Zaidi plans to finalize the government formation between August 15 and August 25.
