Iraqi Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair announced Friday that the country is currently exporting around two million barrels of crude oil per day.

Speaking during the inauguration of an energy facility in Basra Governorate, Khudair said the current level has been maintained since the beginning of August, with crude transported through four oil tankers.

Iraq exported approximately 49 million barrels during July, according to the minister.

The Ministry of Oil is working to expand Iraq’s export capacity through additional transportation corridors.

The government has signed agreements with Chevron and an Emirati company for a planned pipeline connecting Basra with Faysh Khabur.

Officials also plan to develop another pipeline linking Haditha with Baniyas, creating additional options for transporting Iraqi crude.

The planned routes are intended to diversify Iraq’s crude export channels and provide additional options for moving oil to international markets and refineries.

Khudair said expanding transportation infrastructure is part of the government’s broader effort to increase and secure oil exports.

Oil remains the main source of government income, accounting for around 85% of Iraq’s state revenues.

Iraq’s oil exports faced significant disruption during the first half of the year amid the regional war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Exports had fallen close to zero during the conflict, compared with more than three million barrels per day before the war.

The recovery to two million barrels per day marks a significant increase from those wartime levels, while Baghdad continues to seek alternative routes for future exports.
