In its response to a Channel8 inquiry, the German Consulate General in Erbil said the further implementation and consolidation of the Peshmerga reform process remain important.

Germany said it has consistently supported the reform efforts and remains committed to its partnership with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The Consulate General said it was therefore unable to provide further details at this stage, while stressing that Germany will remain closely engaged with its Iraqi and Kurdish partners.
