KDP Political Bureau member Jaafar Eminki told reporters on Wednesday that the government might be formed in October.

Eminki emphasized that efforts will be made to form the cabinet in the near future.

Regarding the allocation of government positions, he stated that he did not possess information about "the specific details."

"Mutual trust between them is at a high level," Eminki stressed, adding that the new government will be broad-based, as has historically been the case in the Kurdistan Region's political system.

While rumors of an agreement between the PUK and the KDP continue to circulate, Channel8 has learned that no concrete deal has been reached between the two major parties regarding the formation of the tenth cabinet

Kurdistan Democratic Party spokesman Mahmoud Mohammed told reporters earlier today that despite remaining obstacles, efforts have intensified to form the new cabinet as soon as possible.

He added that unity among the political parties is expected to clear existing obstacles “in the coming days” and pave the way for the reactivation of legitimate government institutions.

Following nearly two years of stalled post-2024 election talks between both sides, the PUK formed a strategic alliance with the New Generation Movement earlier this year to challenge the impasse, calling for a change in the governance system, the betterment of citizens' lives, and a change in the way senior governmental posts are distributed.

Holding 38 combined parliamentary seats (PUK's 23 and NGM's 15), they argue they are a major political force that can demand 50% of senior government positions from the KDP, insisting on government formation talks with the KDP as a "single package." However, the KDP categorically refused to recognize the alliance, pushing instead for a direct bilateral government with the PUK.

Meanwhile, The Supreme Council of the New Generation Movement and the Political Bureau of the PUK also held a meeting on September 9, with both parties emphasizing their readiness to establish a balanced, inclusive government while issuing a warning that any political entity obstructing cabinet negotiations will be held accountable.
