Five villages near Slemani are being incorporated into the city’s urban neighborhoods.
The new designations include Tuwa Spi, Fayal, Kani Hama, Kani Pira, and Qulqula.
Authorities have begun preparing an updated master plan for the areas.
The municipality says it will register property deeds and gradually extend public services.
Slemani’s updated master plan will incorporate five surrounding villages into the city’s urban neighborhoods, with municipal authorities beginning property registration and planning for roads, utilities, and public facilities.
Property Registration: “As an initial step, we are formalizing land titles and issuing official property deeds for residents in Tuwa Spi and the four other new neighborhoods.” — Layla Omar, president of Slemani Municipality.
Public Services: “Following title registration, we will incrementally deliver paved roads, water networks, sewage infrastructure, and a modern urban aesthetic to these areas.” — Layla Omar, president of Slemani Municipality.]
Urban Planning: The updated master plan will designate land for roads, green spaces, schools, and essential public service facilities in the five newly incorporated neighborhoods.
The five areas are Tuwa Spi, Fayal, Kani Hama, Kani Pira, and Qulqula. Their inclusion in the city’s urban plan marks a change in their administrative and planning status as Slemani continues to expand.
The Slemani Urban Planning Directorate has begun preparing the layout for the newly designated neighborhoods. The plan will establish how land is allocated for infrastructure and public facilities as the areas are integrated into the city.
Municipal authorities are starting with property title registration and the issuance of official deeds. The municipality says road paving, water networks, and sewage infrastructure will be developed gradually.
Residents expect the change in status to improve access to municipal services. The timing of individual infrastructure projects and the completion of property registrations has not been specified.
Urban master plans guide the long-term development of cities by defining land use and identifying areas for housing, transport, public facilities and green spaces. They help authorities coordinate infrastructure expansion as urban populations and built-up areas grow.
The incorporation of surrounding communities into an urban plan can also bring changes to property administration and municipal service provision. The practical effects depend on implementation, infrastructure funding, and the pace at which planned services are delivered.
