Key Statements and Focus

  • The Kremlin spokesperson stated that "President Trump continues to stay in office. We sincerely expect that he will continue his peace push as well."

  • Peskov expressed hope that the peace efforts "will be continued."

Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told Russian reporter Alexander Yunashev on Wednesday that another round of trilateral talks will be held soon following the success of First Lady Melania Trump’s peacekeeping efforts.

U.S. First Lady Melania Trump directly mediated a recent six-day humanitarian ceasefire in the city of Oleshky.

Regarding whether Congress may block Trump's peace initiatives following the Democratic takeover of Congress, Peskov stressed that this is an “internal affair” of the United States.

FYI

The November 3 U.S. midterm elections resulted in a major political shift as the Democratic Party captured control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, creating a new legislative majority for the remainder of President Donald Trump’s second term.

The diplomatic update follows a successful six-day localized humanitarian ceasefire in the front-line city of Oleshky from October 27 to November 1, an initiative independently brokered by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump to allow emergency aid deliveries and the safe evacuation of nearly 800 civilians.

Building upon this humanitarian momentum, the United States, Russia, and Ukraine are scheduled to resume official trilateral peace negotiations next week from November 10–11 in Abu Dhabi to discuss post-war security guarantees and regional de-escalation.
