Baghdad authorities ready to open bank accounts for KRI employees

The concerned authorities in Baghdad told Channel8 that they have expressed their readiness to facilitate the opening of bank accounts for employees in the Kurdistan Region, following a decision by the Federal Supreme Court.

Since 2014, the Kurdistan Region has been facing a crisis with employee salaries, experiencing delays, deductions, and uncertainties about their payments. The recent Federal Supreme Court decision mandates that the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees be processed through federal government banks.

Member of the Legal Committee in the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad Anouz, emphasized that this decision is binding, and both the federal and regional governments are expected to abide by it.

A source from the Central Bank of Iraq confirmed their preparedness to open branches in the Kurdistan Region pending approval from the regional government.

Additionally, Hassan Al-Dulaimi, from the media team of the Qi Card company appointed by Rafidain Bank for salary distribution, stated that the process of opening bank accounts for the region’s employees is not complicated and can be swiftly completed for thousands of individuals.
