Mosul airport project to be completed by year’s end: governor

About 70 percent of the project to renovate Mosul International Airport has been completed and is scheduled to be operational by the end of the year, the governor of Nineveh province said on Saturday.

“The airport will be ready by the end of this year and will be operational according to international standards,” Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir Dakhil said during a field visit to the Mosul airport project.

Dakhil visited the airport on Saturday, where he said, “This project is the identity of the province and the face of the city for traffic and connections to the world.”

He also said the airport was an important gateway to bring international investors to the city and rebuild it.

The governor said on Saturday they intend to sign a contract with an Italian company for the basic design of Mosul, which will add another 160,000 acres of land and provide investment and development opportunities.
