The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) has confirmed the preparedness of Basra Stadium to host the upcoming match between our national team and its Philippine counterpart on March 21st.

This match is part of the third round of double qualifying qualifiers for the 2027 Asian Cup and the 2026 World Cup.

According to Hossam Hassan, Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the entire staff at Basra International Stadium has been actively involved in the technical and logistical preparations for the event.

Hassan emphasized that the match will attract attention from Asian and international federations, and the ministry is dedicated to fulfilling all requirements for a successful match.

Hassan added that “all preparations for the stadium floor, players’ disputes, electrical, lighting, acoustics and display works have been completed, as well as securing the internet, equipping the conference hall and cleaning the audience seats after using a number of volunteer teams in Basra governorate”.

To ensure a seamless experience for the Philippine national team, a committee has been established to welcome them at Basra International Airport.

This committee will oversee transportation, accommodation, and training field allocations, showcasing the high standards of Iraqi sports facilities and hospitality.
