The Iraqi Joint Operations Command successfully took down Samir Khazr Sharif, the chief weapons transporter for ISIS and the orchestrator of member movements between Iraq and Syria along the shared border.

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command released a statement highlighting the operation’s success, attributing Sharif’s demise to meticulous intelligence-gathering efforts.

According to the statement, Sharif was accountable for the transportation of arms, supplies, and extremists across the borders, consequently being linked to multiple civilian casualties in Anbar province.

Reportedly, the ISIS leader met his end during an expertly executed army ambush at the Iraq-Syria border near Diyarbakir province.

This development coincides with Iraqi Army Chief of Staff Abdul Amir Yaralla’s recent visit to Anbar province alongside a top-ranking military contingent to evaluate the region’s security status.
