IHEC confirms readiness for Kurdistan parliamentary elections

According to the spokeswoman for the Iraqi Election Commission, Jumana Al-Ghalay, the commission has not received any requests to postpone the upcoming elections. Al-Ghalay emphasized that the decision regarding the postponement lies in the hands of the Kurdistan Regional President.

Al-Ghalay further stated that the Election Commission is preparing for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections. The deadline for candidate submissions and lists has passed, and no new submissions or withdrawals will be allowed.

In an update on the electoral process, Al-Ghalay mentioned that on April 7, lots will be drawn to assign numbers to candidates and coalitions. Numbers for lists and candidates will start from 101.

Additionally, 173 voter card registration centers have been opened, and Al-Ghalay urged voters to collect their cards promptly.

The spokeswoman reiterated that the Election Commission remains focused on the election preparations and emphasized that any decision to postpone the elections rests with the Kurdistan Regional President.
