Norwegian oil and gas operator DNO ASA announced on Thursday that production and field operations have recovered after floods in the Kurdistan Region damaged roads, disrupting the loading of tanker trucks.

DNO temporarily shut down its Tawke field for safety reasons while continuing operations at the Peshkabir field, the firm said in a statement.

“Gross license production dropped from above 80,000 barrels per day (bpd) to an average of 65,000 during a 10-day period but was restored to its pre-flooding level on March 30 2024 as DNO worked to minimize flooding exposure, inspect damage, and take remedial actions including installing additional truck loading facilities.”

DNO said it negotiated to bring “Tawke/Peshkabir prices to the mid-USD 30 per barrel level” and that sales “have averaged in excess of USD 25 million per month in 2024.”

The company announced no DNO employees were injured but “several substantial pieces of equipment weighing tons were washed away and have yet to be located.”

It also said it gave aid to the local community by distributing appliances to families badly impacted by the floods.
