Iraqi PM meets with Kurdistan Region President Barzani in Baghdad

The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and his delegation met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani on Saturday, a statement from the Kurdistan Region’s Presidency said.

They discussed shared views and the progress in implementing the government program, as Sudani stressed the Iraqi government’s keenness to provide services that meet the aspirations of citizens in various parts of the country to achieve integration in performance between the federal authorities and authorities in the Kurdistan Region, according to a statement from the Iraqi PM’s media office.

During the meeting, an emphasis was placed on the importance of supporting government reform from all national and political sides, in order to improve the government’s goals and to advance in consolidating comprehensive development, as well as to break through administrative and executive obstacles that block improvements in services, and the economic reality of daily life, the statement said.

The meeting came after the leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Jalal Talabani, and President Barzani arrived separately in Baghdad, for talks with the ruling coalition on the Iraqi political arena.
