‘Iraqi Barbie’ survives kidnapping in Baghdad

A blogger known as “Iraqi Barbie” is rumored to have survived a kidnapping after photos of the injured woman surfaced on social media, Al Arabiya said on Monday.

According to the news outlet, surveillance cameras documented her kidnapping from the al-Mansour area of west Baghdad. Later, photos showed her with injuries on her face and hands.

Al Arabiya cited sources that revealed the social media activist, whose real name is Dalia Naeem, arrived at Yarmouk Hospital with security patrols from al-Amel district.

The news outlet stated Naeem said she was kidnapped by three masked people who were riding a black vehicle. She was afterwards taken to a second vehicle but she was able to escape while jumping from the trunk.

According to Al Arabiya, cases of kidnappings and assassinations, as well as an arrest campaign of social media personalities have arisen, while some activists have been subjected to killings and kidnappings.
