During Eid al-Fitr prayers in Baghdad, Qais al-Khazali, the secretary-general of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq movement, urged Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to advocate for Iraq’s increased control over its dollar funds during his upcoming visit to Washington.

Al-Khazali emphasized the importance of economic sovereignty and Iraq’s ability to make independent decisions regarding its finances.

He criticized the United States for imposing stringent conditions on the use of dollar funds, asserting that Iraq has largely complied despite unfair restrictions.

Al-Khazali accused the US of leveraging economic leverage to maintain its military presence in Iraq.
