Iraqi PM Sudani sets off for Washington

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has set off for a visit to Washington accompanied by governmental, parliamentary, and private sector delegations.

Sudani’s visit comes as an official invitation from US President Joe Biden.

Earlier Mazhar Mohammed Salih, an advisor to Sudani, said the PM will discuss several issues with US officials during his visit to Washington with a focus on financial and banking activities in Iraq.

He said there will be several topics discussed, the most important of which is US assistance to improve the financial and banking systems in Iraq, and the development of relations between the two countries in this regard.

Salih said the visit was important for the future of Iraq’s economy and it will draw a roadmap for future economic relations.
