Four people are receiving treatment for “non-life-threatening injuries” after a stabbing at an Assyrian church service in Sydney on Monday, according to emergency services.

Australian police said they have arrested one man.

A video stream showed a man dressed in black approach a bishop at the dais, where he raised his right arm and slashed at the preacher with a knife, causing panic and screams among the congregation.

Several people rushed to subdue the attacker.

The ambulance service said four men aged between 20 and 70 were receiving treatment for their wounds, including lacerations.

The video was taken at the Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, a suburb in west Sydney.

The neighborhood is home to Sydney’s Christian Assyrian community, originally from Iraq and Syria.

The attack comes just days after a stabbing at a Sydney mall that killed six people, carried out by a 40-year-old man with mental illness.
