Iraqi PM’s visit to Washington yields promising results

Nasser Al-Asadi, the Advisor to the Prime Minister for Transport Affairs, disclosed today the significant progress made during Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani’s visit to Washington.

Following the trip, joint committees have been established to facilitate ongoing dialogue between Iraq and the United States, with future meetings set to take place in Baghdad.

Speaking to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Asadi emphasized the tangible outcomes of the meetings held in Washington, including the activation of the framework agreement covering various sectors such as education, transportation, health, human rights, and more.

He expressed satisfaction with the fruitful discussions, highlighting the collaboration on strategic relations and financial matters between Iraq and the US.

Al-Asadi noted the formation of specialized committees to exchange viewpoints and outlined plans to kickstart the implementation of agreements reached in Washington during upcoming meetings in Baghdad.

He also underscored the success of the visit in attracting American businesses to invest in Iraq, with joint initiatives between Iraqi and US investors being set in motion.

Moreover, Al-Asadi pointed out the participation of private sector representatives in the Iraqi delegation, reflecting the government’s commitment to fostering partnerships with private enterprises.

This inclusive approach aims to streamline interactions with companies and align with government directives.

After a week-long visit, Prime Minister Al-Sudani has returned to Baghdad, having engaged in pivotal discussions during his stay in the US, including a crucial meeting with President Joe Biden.
