KRG urges Iraqi compliance with oil export agreement

In a recent statement, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) called upon the Iraqi government to adhere to the terms outlined in the January agreement and assist in restarting oil exports.

The ministry expressed disappointment over the Iraqi government’s alleged failure to pass necessary oil and gas legislation.

Furthermore, the KRG Ministry emphasized that there is no legal basis, as outlined in the 2005 constitution, for the Iraqi Oil Ministry to impede oil exports, stressing the significance of these exports for the well-being of all Iraqi citizens and the global community’s peace and energy security.

Contrary to claims by the Iraqi Oil Ministry, the KRG Ministry refuted any responsibility on their part for the disrupted oil exports, highlighting the Iraqi government’s purported inaction regarding essential oil and gas laws.
