Development well drilling commences in Iran-Iraq Yadavaran oil field

The drilling of six development wells has officially kicked off in the Yadavaran oil field, which stands as a collaborative effort between Iran and Iraq.

Abdolkarim Ali Mohammadi, the deputy general director of Iran’s National Mining Company, confirmed this development.

Under the agreement signed between the National Mining Company of Iran and the Petroleum Development and Engineering Company (Pedec), these wells are expected to be completed within 24 months and subsequently handed over to the oil company.

There is a pressing initiative from the national mining company to expedite the modernization process of these wells, with a cumulative drilling depth of 4,800 meters across the six wells.

Situated 60 kilometers southwest of Ahvaz in Khuzestan Province along the Iran-Iraq border, the Yadavaran oil field boasts a substantial reserve of 6.3 billion barrels of oil.

Forecasts indicate that its production capacity could potentially reach an impressive 6.2 billion barrels. Currently, the first phase of the field is yielding over 110,000 barrels of oil daily from 49 operational wells.
