Iraqi water minister confirms Darbandikhan dam in excellent condition

Iraq’s Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Thiab, recently announced that the Darbandikhan Dam is currently in its best condition in the last four years.

The Minister highlighted that the level of water flowing into the dams exceeds the requirements for irrigation.

As the country approaches the end of the planting season and the start of harvesting, Thiab emphasized that there is no immediate need for additional irrigation.

Thiab further pointed out the favorable state of the Hamrin Dam, used for irrigating the gardens of Diyala, highlighting its crucial role during the agricultural season.

The Ministry is diligently following a well-structured water distribution plan to prevent drought situations in the upcoming years, Thaib assured.
