Gulf Air restores flight services to Iraq, expands travel options

Gulf Air made an announcement regarding the reintroduction of its flight services to Iraq. Starting from June 1st, 2024, passengers are set to benefit from an increased array of travel options between Bahrain and Iraq.

The airline is set to operate four weekly flights to Baghdad and daily flights to Najaf. This return to Iraq signifies the end of a four-year hiatus that began when flights were halted due to the global pandemic in 2020.

These strategically timed flights will be serviced using Gulf Air’s modern Airbus fleet to ensure passengers have a comfortable and reliable travel experience. Departures from Bahrain are scheduled for 9:40 am on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for Baghdad, with daily flights to Najaf leaving at 10:25 am.

A company spokesperson remarked, “The resumption of flights to Iraq represents Gulf Air’s continued emphasis on network optimization. Iraq holds significant importance for Bahrain and stands as a vital connection hub for travelers across the region.”

“We are confident that these flights will further enhance the economic and social ties between the two countries, and Gulf Air is delighted to contribute to this significant development.”

This relaunch signifies a return to familiar ground for Gulf Air, which had previously operated flights to Baghdad, Erbil, and Najaf. Gulf Air initially commenced flight services in Iraq in 1974, providing services to these three destinations.

In 2024, passengers can look forward to a more streamlined travel experience through Bahrain International Airport, utilizing its modern and efficient facilities.
