Iraq’s counter-terrorism arrests senior ISIS leader

Iraq’s Counter Terrorism Service (CTS) said on Tuesday it had arrested a senior Islamic State (ISIS) leader.

CTS said it was able to track down the suspect and detain him based on intelligence reports after he entered the country with forged documents.

A statement from CTS did not identify the suspect but said he was a prominent figure in the militant group in charge of administrative and financial actions.

A security source informed China’s Xinhua news the suspect was “one of the first-line leaders” in ISIS and security services have intelligence on what he intended to accomplish while in Iraq.
