Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Denys Shmygal, said on Thursday that confiscated Russian assets should go toward the nearly half a trillion dollars needed to rebuild the country.

The European Commission said, according to a new report, that the total reconstruction cost in Ukraine amounts to $486 billion.

The assessment was carried out by four organizations and also stated Ukraine would require $15 billion in 2024 alone for the leading issues, including the repair of homes, and transportation connections.

Frozen Russian assets amount to $300 billion, and Ukraine is urging for these funds to be used for reconstruction.

The report discovered a large amount of damage done to agriculture and the environment from an explosion at the Kakhovka dam last year and that 10 percent of Ukraine’s housing stock had been damaged or destroyed in the war.
