Iraqi National Security Advisor Qassim al-Araji said on Saturday that narcotics pose a greater danger to Iraq than the Islamic State (ISIS) militants.

During the Sixth International Dialogue Conference in Baghdad, al-Araji said that “narcotics are the top threat to Iraq’s security, followed by ISIS”.

“By the end of last year, we concluded 20 memoranda and security agreements with Iraq’s neighboring countries,” al-Araaji said.

The advisor called on the neighboring countries to not interfere in his country’s internal affairs.

Araji stressed the importance of trusting in the capabilities of Iraqis and noted that this trust has now been established with neighboring countries.
