Khamis al-Khanjar: Parties close to agreement on Kirkuk governorship

The leader of al-Siyada alliance said the coalition is close to an agreement over the post of the governor of Kirkuk and will meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al-Sudani to discuss the issue.

Khamis al-Khanjar, the leader of the alliance, told Channel8 the political parties that won elections in Kirkuk will meet with Sudani on Sunday at the invitation of the prime minister.

“The political parties are close to an agreement on the post of governor of Kirkuk,” he said.

Regarding the post of speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Khanjar said there was a joint statement representing all Sunni MPs and parties, demanding the right to the post of speaker of the Iraqi parliament.
