Border trade in Urmia province surpasses $1 billion in 2023

In 2023, trade amounting to $1.489 billion was conducted at the border crossings of Urmia province in northwestern Iran, according to a local official.
Abdul Hamid Sartipi, Director General of Industry and Mines of Urmia province, said that the average trade turnover at the province's border crossings exceeded one billion dollars in 2023, marking a 31% increase from 2022.
He said that the volume of goods exported from the border crossings during that period surpassed 1 million tons.
Sartipi said that during the first 11 months of 2023, 810 business licenses were issued, and 433 other licenses were renewed at the border crossings, representing a 57 percent increase compared to 2022.
