IHEC Distributes One Million Biometric Voting Cards to Newly Registered Voters
The Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq (IHEC) announced that by Tuesday, the 7th of the month, “one million biometric voting cards have been distributed to voters who recently registered their names.”
Imad Jameel, head of the Commission’s media team, told the Iraqi News Agency that “the process is ongoing since its initial launch.”
Centers and Facilitation Measures
To ease the process for citizens, the Commission has established 10,079 registration centers across Iraq. Additionally, procedures for collecting voting cards have been simplified, “a single family member can now collect the voting cards for all members of their household.”
Provincial Statistics
Imad Jameel shared the distribution rates of biometric cards among newly registered voters by province:
- Baghdad and Duhok: Highest rate at 44%
- Nineveh: Second highest with 35%
- Anbar: Card collection rate reached 34%
