Multiple Drone Strikes Target Security and Diplomatic Sites in Sulaymaniyah
Multiple drone attacks targeted security and diplomatic-related locations in the city of Sulaymaniyah late Saturday night into early Sunday, though no casualties were reported, according to the Kurdistan Region Security Agency.
In a statement released in the early hours of March 8, 2026, the agency said the barracks of the Peshmerga Ministry's Unit 70 forces were struck twice using four drones. Two additional drones targeted areas near the UN compound and the Turkish visa office in Sulaymaniyah, the statement added.
Security teams were immediately dispatched to the sites following the incidents and launched an investigation, the agency said.
Preliminary findings indicate that the attacks involved six drones in total, with four directed at the Unit 70 base and two aimed near the UN compound and the Turkish diplomatic mission.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported as a result of the strikes.
The Kurdistan Region Security Agency said investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances and perpetrators behind the attacks.
