Cultural Festival Showcases Local Heritage in Penjwen

Amid fresh mountain air, the Cultural and Local Products Festival has begun in Penjwen. The event highlights traditional handicrafts, authentic regional foods, and the natural bounty of the area’s fields and mountains.

Festival Content and Exhibits

The festival features diverse sections presenting women’s handicrafts, traditional cuisine from different parts of the region, and agricultural and mountain products unique to Penjwen. These displays emphasize the area’s rich culture and creativity.

Participants and Penjwen’s Specialty “Gazoi”

One participant, Fatma Aziz, showcased the natural “Gazoi” of Penjwen’s mountains, explaining how this product is made. Visitors from across Kurdistan’s cities and towns attended to experience local crafts and natural heritage firsthand.

Festival Goals and Women’s Empowerment

Festival supervisor Bekhal Mohammed stated that the main goal is to create opportunities for women to present their handicrafts. She emphasized that such festivals aim to encourage women to turn their skills into income and eventually become independent entrepreneurs.

Stalls and Duration

Around 150 booths were prepared for participants and business owners to display their products. According to the festival program, activities will continue for three days, with open access for tourists and locals to purchase local goods.
