Speaking to Channel8, lawmaker Abdurrahim Firat from the Erzurum constituency emphasized that the "Framework Law" is the first and most important step for Turkey, Iraq, and Syria, as well as for Kurds and Turks, expressing hope that further steps will be taken.

Firat stressed that this historic opportunity must be seized well so that the process successfully reaches its final stage and results in permanent stability.

He commended the role of Kurdish leaders in the Kurdistan Region for the peace process, including Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, and Bafel Jalal Talabani, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), emphasizing that without their efforts, “the process would not have moved forward.”

Turkish lawmakers have submitted the Framework Law, a 12-article bill supported by 360 signatures across six parties, to Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus.

Kurtulmus underlined yesterday that the bill is "an important milestone that will fortify the inner citadel of our country" and strengthen national unity and brotherhood.

The proposed "Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration" bill allows conditional sentence deferments of 5 to 10 years for eligible individuals while strictly excluding senior leaders and those convicted of intentional homicide.

Under the draft, a dedicated Supreme Council and parliamentary committee will oversee the implementation, with the National Security Council holding final authority to verify full disarmament.

The AK Party spokesman, Omer Celik, told a press conference, “Today, the step taken with this legal framework will, if you look at it from this perspective, constitute a beginning.”

“Its reflection on our Parliament, our economy, and our civil society life, and its reflection on societal segments who today perceive certain distances among them, will be very great, very positive, and very valuable,” he added.

Meanwhile, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahceli urged the release of Kurdish political figures Abdullah Ocalan, Selahattin Demirtas, and Ahmet Turk in the framework of the ongoing process.
