Bahceli signed a comprehensive draft framework law, a pivotal piece of legislation within the framework of the ongoing peace process in Turkey, on Wednesday.
The leader stressed that the signing served to reinforce the millennium-old bond of brotherhood between the communities.
Bahceli also noted that Abdullah Ocalan, the founder of the dissolved Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), should benefit from the "right to hope" legal provision.
He declared that Selahattin Demirtas, the former co-chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), must be released, adding that Ahmet Turk, who was removed as mayor of Mardin in 2024, must return to his office.
A new draft, titled "Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration," consists of 10 articles total. It aims to end armed conflicts and solidify "a thousand years of brotherhood" in Turkey.
Abdullah Ocalan released a new message earlier regarding the developments and emphasized that the law is the "key" to starting a historic process and lasting peace.
The Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) reached an understanding on forming a parliamentary oversight committee. They will also form a peace council to implement the provisions.
